Walmart Marketplace Approval: A Step-by-Step Guide
Walmart's marketplace is less crowded than Amazon, which makes it a real opportunity for wholesale sellers. Here is how to get approved to sell, step by step.
Why sell on Walmart
Fewer sellers compete on each listing than on Amazon, and Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) handles storage and shipping much like FBA. Getting in early on a product can mean owning the Buy Box with little competition.
Before you apply
- A registered US business with an EIN (or equivalent).
- A W-9 and business address.
- Products with GTIN/UPC codes and a plan to fulfill (your own shipping or WFS).
- A history of selling on other marketplaces helps but is not always required.
The approval steps
- 1. Apply at Walmart Marketplace's seller signup and submit your business details.
- 2. Verify your business and tax information.
- 3. Complete onboarding — payment setup, shipping settings, and your seller profile.
- 4. List products, matching existing catalog items by UPC where possible.
- 5. Enroll in WFS (optional) to get fast-delivery tags and hands-off fulfillment.
