FNSKU labeling

FNSKU labeling, done right — or done for you.

A wrong, missing, or unscannable FNSKU label is one of the fastest ways to get an FBA shipment held, commingled, or charged unplanned-prep fees. Here’s exactly what FNSKU labeling is and how Amazon wants it done — and if you’d rather not touch it, we apply correct FNSKU labels at $0.65/unit, included in our FBA prep.

What is an FNSKU?

FNSKU stands for Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit — the unique barcode Amazon assigns to each product tied to your seller account in FBA. It’s how Amazon knows a unit in their warehouse belongs to you specifically, not to another seller of the same product. FNSKU labeling is the act of printing that barcode and applying it to each sellable unit, covering any existing manufacturer barcode (UPC/EAN) so only your FNSKU scans.

It’s different from a UPC (the manufacturer’s product code) and an ASIN (Amazon’s catalog ID). The FNSKU is account-specific, which is exactly why getting it right matters: it keeps your inventory from being commingled with other sellers’ stock.

Amazon’s FNSKU label requirements

Get any of these wrong and Amazon can refuse the unit or bill unplanned-prep fees.

The FNSKU label must cover the existing manufacturer barcode so only the FNSKU is scannable.

Labels must be scannable and legible — printed clearly on standard label stock, not over seams, curves, or edges.

The label includes the FNSKU barcode, the item title, and condition.

One FNSKU per sellable unit — bundles and multi-packs get a single FNSKU for the whole pack.

How to get and print your FNSKU labels

In Seller Central, your FNSKU is generated when you create an FBA listing. To print labels: go to Manage Inventory, select the product, and choose Print item labels — or generate them during shipment creation. Amazon lets you pick a label-sheet layout (common options include 21, 24, 30, and 40 labels per sheet) to match your label paper. Print on a thermal or laser printer, then apply one to each unit over the manufacturer barcode.

Rather not label it yourself?

Printing, peeling, and applying FNSKU labels by hand is slow and easy to get wrong at volume. Ship us your inventory — we inspect, apply the correct FNSKU label to every unit, and send it into FBA. It’s built into our $0.65/unit prep.

FNSKU labeling FAQs

What is an FNSKU label?

It’s the barcode label carrying your product’s Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit — the unique code Amazon uses to tie a unit in FBA to your seller account. It’s applied to each sellable unit over the manufacturer barcode.

FNSKU vs UPC vs ASIN — what’s the difference?

The UPC is the manufacturer’s product barcode, the ASIN is Amazon’s catalog ID for the listing, and the FNSKU is account-specific to you in FBA. The FNSKU is what gets labeled on the physical unit so your stock isn’t commingled.

How do I print FNSKU labels?

In Seller Central, go to Manage Inventory, select the product, and choose Print item labels (or generate them during shipment creation). Pick a label-sheet layout to match your paper and print on a thermal or laser printer.

Does the FNSKU label need to cover the original barcode?

Yes. The FNSKU must cover any existing scannable manufacturer barcode (UPC/EAN) so that only the FNSKU scans — otherwise units can be misattributed or commingled.

How much does FNSKU labeling cost?

If you do it yourself, just label stock and printer time. Through us, FNSKU labeling is included in our $0.65/unit standard FBA prep — inspection, labeling, and outbound shipment into FBA.

Can you label products I send in?

Yes. Ship your inventory to our Illinois warehouse and we’ll apply the correct FNSKU to every unit, verified against your shipment plan, and send it into FBA — no minimum.
