How to Calculate Amazon FBA Fees Before You Buy

By Hardway Enterprises · Updated June 2026

A product can look profitable until Amazon's fees take their cut. Running the fee math before you buy is what separates profitable sellers from busy ones.

The main fees

The simple profit formula

Sell price − referral fee − fulfillment fee − your product cost − inbound shipping and prep = your profit. Divide that profit by your cost to get ROI.

A quick example

Sell at $25, pay a ~15% referral ($3.75) and a ~$5 fulfillment fee, with a $7 product cost and ~$1 shipping/prep: profit is about $8.25, an ROI near 100% of a $8 cost basis. Always run the real numbers per product, not a rule of thumb.

Tools that help

Amazon's Revenue Calculator and seller tools like SellerAmp give exact fees by ASIN. For what to aim for after fees, see what ROI to target. Our leads arrive with fees and ROI already calculated so you can decide in seconds.
